Hi guys, I’m back with another delicious and hearty recipe. It was my birthday a few days ago and I decided to make homemade pizzas from scratch. With that said, please find below the ingredients and instructions used to making this common favorite worldwide.
Preparation time – 1 hr. 30 minutes
Cook Time – 15 minutes
Total time – 1 hr. 45 minutes
2 medium-sized pizzas – 16 slices OR
1 extra-large pizza – 8 slices
2 cups whole wheat flour
1 cup all-purpose white flour, plus more for kneading
1 packet dry active yeast (2¼ teaspoons)
1 tablespoon white sugar
1 teaspoon salt
¼ cup + 2 teaspoons oil (to grease the dough)
1½ cups of lukewarm water
⅓-⅔ cup pizza sauce OR
Puréed tomato and pepper sauce
1 tablespoon oil
Italian seasoning, or herb of your choice
½ bouillon cube
⅛ teaspoon salt
2-4 chicken breasts, or thighs
1 small diced onion
1-2 jalapeño/sweet pepper (optional)
2 cups shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese
1) In a small cup, add the dry active yeast, and sugar to 1/2 cup of the lukewarm water (without stirring). Wait for 5-10 minutes until the mixture becomes foamy.
2) In a big bowl, add the dry ingredients: wheat and white flour, salt, then oil, and the remaining water together. Pour the yeast mixture into the bowl, and combine all ingredients together until the dough is sticky and quite soft. Note: If the dough is dry, add a tad bit water; 1 to 2 tablespoons. If too sticky, add 1 to 2 tablespoons flour.
3) Rub the dough ball with 1 teaspoon oil and leave to rise for 30 minutes. Cover with a lid or kitchen towel, and place in a warm place.
4) Upon rising, sprinkle some flour and knead the risen dough for 1-2 minutes. Repeat step 4 again for the second time. Note: You can split the dough into 2 balls if making 2 medium pizzas.
[warning]5) Preheat the oven to 450F, or 230C or gas number 8 when risen again.[/warning] 6) Then, knead once more, roll and stretch the dough(s) into desired size; medium or x-large.
7) Transfer into a pizza pan, and add toppings starting with the cheese.
8) Place in preheated oven, and bake for 15 minutes.
9) Take out from the oven and allow to cool when done.
10) Cut into slices, serve and eat:)
